What is included in the trip (meals, lodging, transport)?

When you join a MEDLIFE Service Learning Trip (SLT), your trip package covers accommodations, meals, transport, and key activities. You'll enjoy seven nights of dorm room accommodation, meals from Monday to Friday (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), and transport to mobile clinics and development projects. All logistical support ensures you can focus on making an impact.

What’s Included in Your Service Learning Trip?

A MEDLIFE Service Learning Trip (SLT) offers you a comprehensive experience designed to empower you to contribute meaningfully to community development. In addition to hands-on service, you’ll enjoy seamless travel logistics that include accommodation, meals, and transportation, allowing you to focus on your educational and service goals.

What does your SLT include?

  1. Accommodation

You’ll stay in comfortable and safe dormitory-style rooms for the duration of your SLT. Dorm rooms typically accommodate between 4 and 12 participants, depending on the destination. These accommodations reflect the local culture while providing a safe and supportive environment for participants.

For those who prefer more privacy, room upgrades may be available for an additional cost, allowing you to stay in a private room or a shared room with one or two people, depending on availability.

  2. Meals

Meals are provided from Monday to Friday, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. These meals cater to diverse dietary needs and offer a great opportunity to experience local cuisine. Weekend meals are not included. However, participants are free to explore local dining options with fellow volunteers. If you choose to book additional weekend tours through MEDLIFE, some tours may include a boxed breakfast or boxed lunch, depending on the destination and the specific tour.

  3. Transport

All necessary transportation is provided, including transfers to and from airports, as well as transport to mobile clinics and development project sites. This ensures that you have the logistical support you need to participate in activities without worrying about local travel. Please note that airport transfers are scheduled within MEDLIFE’s designated transportation hours. Transfers outside of these hours may incur additional charges. For more information or to coordinate special transportation arrangements, please contact trips@medlifemovement.org.

  4. Leadership and Support
Throughout the trip, you’ll be accompanied by an English-speaking Trip Leader who will guide you through the experience, provide cultural insights, and ensure safety. The trip leaders are experienced in managing groups in international settings, ensuring you have the support you need throughout your trip.
  5. Cultural Immersion
While the focus is on service, you’ll also have the chance to engage with the local culture through optional activities and guided tours. This immersion allows you to better understand the communities you serve and the broader context of global health and development.
  6. Health Insurance
All participants are provided with health insurance coverage during the program, which applies while participating in MEDLIFE-organized activities, including mobile clinics, development project visits, and other scheduled program events.

Please note that this insurance does not include travel insurance, such as coverage for trip cancellations, delays, lost baggage, or other travel-related disruptions. Participants are strongly encouraged to purchase personal travel insurance before their trip.

If participants choose to take part in independent activities or tours not arranged through MEDLIFE, the insurance may not apply, as MEDLIFE cannot ensure the safety or supervision of those activities.

For more information about what is included on our SLTs, please contact trips@medlifemovement.org.
