Can I start a Chapter?
Starting a MEDLIFE chapter at your school or community is a great way to make a positive impact. It allows you to advocate for global health, organize volunteer trips, and gain leadership experience. To begin, you’ll need to recruit a team, secure school approval, and engage with MEDLIFE’s Expansion Team for guidance.
What is a MEDLIFE Chapter?
Starting a MEDLIFE chapter is an exciting opportunity to be part of a global movement dedicated to addressing inequality in healthcare, education, and infrastructure. It involves organizing community outreach, raising awareness about global poverty issues, and coordinating Service Learning Trips (SLTs) to support sustainable development projects in underserved regions. Chapters are led by students who act as the driving force for change, connecting their peers with MEDLIFE's mission and local communities abroad.
Steps to Start a MEDLIFE Chapter
- Recruit a Leadership Team:
To establish a chapter, you'll need a minimum of 5 E-Board members (including a president). Be sure to fill out the necessary forms to register your leadership team. - Obtain School Approval:
Speak with your school administrators and get official approval to start the chapter. Ensure your chapter aligns with the school's policies and mission. - Set up Initial Membership:
At least 2 members, including one from the leadership team, must register for a Service Learning Trip (SLT). This step ensures your chapter’s active participation. - Connect with the MEDLIFE Expansion Team:
Once you've met the basic criteria, contact MEDLIFE’s Expansion Associate, who will guide you through the next steps, such as scheduling a Founder’s meeting and assigning a Chapter Coach. - Hold a Founder's Meeting:
After all preparations are in place, a Founder's meeting will be scheduled. This meeting serves to officially launch your chapter and ensure everyone is aligned with MEDLIFE’s goals and expectations.
