Are there training sessions for new Chapters?
Yes, MEDLIFE provides training sessions for new Chapters to ensure a smooth start. These sessions include guidance on leadership, chapter operations, and fundraising, as well as an introduction to MEDLIFE’s mission and values. New chapters also receive support from experienced mentors to help them navigate the first few months.
What is included in the training for new Chapters?
When you start a new Chapter, you will receive support from MEDLIFE to guide you through the foundational steps. The training process is designed to ensure that your chapter is set up for success and aligned with MEDLIFE’s mission to fight poverty through medicine, education, and development. This training includes:
1. Founder's Meeting & Orientation
Each new Chapter has a Founder’s Meeting led by a designated Chapter Coach. During this meeting, you'll receive an overview of MEDLIFE's goals and the role of your Chapter in advancing those goals. It's an opportunity to learn about the responsibilities of your E-board (executive board), and to ask questions about setting up your Chapter's activities.
2. Leadership & Team Building
The training will focus on empowering your leadership team. You'll learn about effective team building, communication strategies, and leadership roles. Ensuring your team is motivated and organized is key to running a successful Chapter, and MEDLIFE will provide resources and mentorship throughout this process.
3. Fundraising & Engagement
You’ll also receive practical training on fundraising strategies, including how to engage your school community, organize events, and achieve your Service Learning Trip (SLT) goals. MEDLIFE provides a fundraising toolkit to support these efforts and helps you align your fundraising with your chapter’s goals.
4. Service Learning Trips (SLT)
As a MEDLIFE Chapter, you will be actively involved in organizing Service Learning Trips for your members. This training covers how to select locations, promote the trips, and support your volunteers throughout the process. You'll also receive detailed support for the logistics, such as ensuring that everyone is properly registered and prepared.
